Maturity Matrix:

Tim Jervis   has reviewed the file ‘Reliability Engineering Maturity Matrix.pdf’

“If we can get them to cover these measures any   plant should be in a good place …. Could we get more Operations Managers to   embrace this.”

Kim Hunt has   reviewed the file ‘Reliability Engineering Maturity Matrix.pdf’

“Ricky, Thanks for sharing yet another   excellent tool to help us educate the people at our facility. We use this   matrix as a team (from manager to tradesperson) to evaluate where we’re at   and see where we need to be. From there we put together a gantt chart with an   action plan and accountability. It focuses our attention where it needs to be   and we always tend to be in agreement with our opinions generally speaking.   Keep up the great work – much appreciated!”

George Krueck   has reviewed the file ‘Reliability Engineering Maturity Matrix.pdf’

“I really like the matrix, but it makes me   realize how bad we are; how far we have to go. of the 21 categories, we   scored 15 level 1; 5 level 2; and 1 level 4. the level 4 was in the CMMS   category, which leades me to think you may need to redo that one. or add a   category for proper population, input, use, and access, of the system.”

Stephen Sajewicz   has reviewed the file ‘Reliability Engineering Maturity Matrix.pdf’

“Excellent material on all phases of operation,   start to finish.. This type of program needs to be embraced by management at   all levels for a successful implementation as well as long term support.Well   thought out at all levels.”

Tool Box Talks:

Duane Wegienka,  Tool Box Talk – Torque of Bolts Comments

Very thorough, I think proper torque of bolts is often done incorrectly or not at all. I do not think it can be stated enough that proper torqueing contributes to longer equipment life.

Marc Cantaud   has reviewed the file ‘Tool Box Talk – Torque of Bolts.pdf’

“Hi Rick, yes this is effective and clear. If   this is discussed with mechanics team: 1. I would add that screws AND nuts   have a grade, so all combination are not allowed. 2. I would add that in some   cases, original equipment manufacturer torque sequence should be followed.   i.e. case of flanges, to be tightened at 50%, then 75% then 100% of the   torque. In this case, numbering the holes of the flange will can help   mechanics. 3. I would also add that torque is an indirect way to check that 2   or more parts are properly linked together. Depending of the industry and/or   if more precision is needed, I know this 3 other methods (there is probably   more): • Using a bolt tensionner that is pressurizing the parts together   before turning the nut (see Enerpac GT-Series) • With an ultrasound system   measuring the tension in the screw (see Intellifast E-Torc II) • With   Rotabolts (see James Walker website)”

Larry Hoing CMRP   has reviewed the file ‘Tool Box Talk – Torque of Bolts.pdf’

“Ricky, This tool box talk on Fasteners hits   the mark in providing a simple easy to follow instruction on the basics of   proper fastening. I would expect that there would be more to follow with more   specifics but this gets teh ball rolling and sets up ongoing training for success.”
